[Ocees] Close-to-Nature Forestry forest research labs in Athens County

Hi everyone,

I wanted to draw you attention to newly-available forest research sites in Athens County.
Boone Road Enterprises, an Ohio-based company focused on conservation and stewardship of forest ecosystems, has completed an agreement with Ohio University to create three forest research labs in Athens County. The three forests total 444 acres and their locations are noted in the attachment.  Faculty and students are welcome to perform research and observe the ecosystem health in these forests.  I am serving as the coordinator for the partnership.

Boone Road invests in timberlands and then follows a European forest management system called Close-to-Nature Forestry (CTNF).  CTNF prioritizes biodiversity and permanently protects the forest canopy while promoting frequent but gentle harvests and forbidding the use of chemicals.
