Hello everyone,
I hope you're doing well.
We are delighted to announce that following our recent BSGS nominations, Dr. Paul Hohenlohe<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhohenlohelab.github.io%2Fpeople.html&data=05%7C02%7Cocees%40listserv.ohio.edu%7Cb1b527eb7acb4d9d2e2e08dc28c4f365%7Cf3308007477c4a70888934611817c55a%7C0%7C0%7C638430074360307222%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=4bDISUuZfllYkeK%2B2VHf%2FFWlxgiVGZi%2FuCnb%2Bs6msE4%3D&reserved=0> from the University of Idaho has received the highest votes in our recent BSGS nominations. As a result, we extend our warm invitation to you to join us for a seminar featuring Dr. Hohenlohe, generously funded by both BIOS and OCEES, on February 12th (this coming Monday) at 4 PM in Irvine 159.
Leading up to this event, Dr. Hohenlohe has graciously made time available in his schedule for individual meetings. This presents an excellent opportunity to gain insights into Dr. Hohenlohe's research and foster valuable connections for future collaborations. If you would like to meet him individually or as a group, we encourage you to sign up for a meeting slot using the following link: [https://res.cdn.office.net/assets/mail/file-icon/png/xlsx_16x16.png] Sign up sheet to meet Dr. Hohenlohe.xlsx<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/ap/x-59584e83/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcatmailohio-my.sharepoint.com%2F%3Ax%3A%2Fg%2Fpersonal%2Fpm509920_ohio_edu%2FEXx0CnCqecJOrChCo3O-Kd0B_6urpdfsBdK7Q5n6WJVS1w%3Fe%3Dtjt4cA&data=05%7C02%7Cocees%40listserv.ohio.edu%7Cb1b527eb7acb4d9d2e2e08dc28c4f365%7Cf3308007477c4a70888934611817c55a%7C0%7C0%7C638430074360307222%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=bXCrwymtEBe8h5gDZ4wi7ekrP41ra5xC%2F5zLHQP1V6g%3D&reserved=0>.
Dr. Hohenlohe is one of the developers of STACKS, the software pipeline for constructing loci from short-read sequences, particularly those generated on the Illumina platform. His talk for Monday, titled "Adaptive Capacity in Wildlife Populations: A Case Study of a Unique Disease," will explore Devil Facial Tumor Disease (DFTD) a transmissible cancer that has spread across Tasmanian devil populations (attached flyer). This promises to be a thought-provoking talk catering to a diverse range of interests.
Following the seminar, we invite you to join us for a reception dinner in the LSB lunchroom at 5:15 PM. To assist with our arrangements, please indicate your attendance and specify any dietary preferences or restrictions via the following form: [https://res.cdn.office.net/assets/mail/file-icon/png/xlsx_16x16.png] RSVP for Monday reception.xlsx<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/ap/x-59584e83/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcatmailohio-my.sharepoint.com%2F%3Ax%3A%2Fg%2Fpersonal%2Fpm509920_ohio_edu%2FEVoOL9O2U7FHhXiYXGQEWEIBfJfwJAbjagDOpEVbyLAxcQ%3Fe%3DpjcNcM&data=05%7C02%7Cocees%40listserv.ohio.edu%7Cb1b527eb7acb4d9d2e2e08dc28c4f365%7Cf3308007477c4a70888934611817c55a%7C0%7C0%7C638430074360307222%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=ofHTx41PE6xYR7RX3SfYIyGDXuXd6ELeC%2BnmqU7P%2BNw%3D&reserved=0>.
