1)      The Graduate Student Research Fellowship applications are due 21 Jan. - flyer and application materials attached

2)      Ecolunch - Dr. Liam Mueller - The Multivariate Analysis of Rhizosphere Metabolites. Wednesday, 22 January 11:50-12:45 Irvine 159.

3)      PBIO Colloquium-  Dr. Jeremy Beaulieu - Friday 24 January Porter 104 11:50-12:45 Refreshments provided - sorry no title yet but he's is a phylogenetic systematist working with plants.

4)      BIOS Department Seminar - Dr. Mike Bernard, Case Western Reserve University - Assessing Potentials Effects Shifting Amphibian Breeding Phenology in a Cahnging Climate. Monday, 27 January 16:00-17:00 Irvine 159. Refreshments will be served. 5)      Message from Molly Morris - One of our alumni Chris Parkinson will be in town to give the department seminar on February 3rd (Irvine 159, 4:00 PM). He is a Professor in the Dept. of Biological Sciences & Dept. of Forestry and Environmental Conservation, Clemson University. He has agreed to conduct a workshop for graduate students and senior undergraduates thinking about careers in academia. The workshop will be on Sunday February 2nd at Little Fish Brewing, back room, 5:00 PM. Short reception to follow. Please spread the word.
