[Ocees] Sharlene Santana visit and seminar - Nov 6: "Bat Cranial Diversity: From Ontogeny to Macroevolution"

Sharlene Santana (http://faculty.washington.edu/ssantana/wordpress/ ) will be speaking in the BIOS/BMS Seminar Series on Nov 6 from 2-3 PM in Stocker 103. Sharlene's research integrates experiments and biomechanical modeling of the mammalian feeding system with evolutionary and ecological studies to understand factors contributing to phenotypic diversity. Her talk is titled "Bat Cranial Diversity: From Ontogeny to Macroevolution."  Sharlene has recently published her work in journals such as Evolution, Functional Ecology, Infection Ecology and Epidemiology, Nature Scientific Reports and Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences. She currently has active NSF grants totaling close to $2 million.

For those of you in the Fundamentals in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology grad seminar, Sharlene's research and talk dovetails very nicely with the section I will leading starting that week on Morphology, Mechanics and Performance.
