To: fellows at smithfellows.org<mailto:fellows at smithfellows.org>

Dear Smith Fellows-
Please pass along to your networks:

We're recruiting for an Assistant Professor to join the department of Environmental Studies at California State University, Sacramento. The position description is below, and you'll see we're welcoming applicants from a broad range of areas of expertise. Sacramento State is a teaching-focused University (with some scope/support for research too) so candidates with experience teaching and involving undergraduates in research are particularly encouraged to apply. My experience so far is that it's a dynamic, diverse and exciting campus with a supportive network of faculty and enthusiastic students.
Kind Regards,
Sara

Full position description and application materials are here: http://csus.edu/hr/jobs/index.html

The Department of Environmental Studies in the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (SSIS), California State University, Sacramento, invites applications and nominations for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) to join the Department beginning in Fall 2017. The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral-level degree. Significant and successful teaching experience in a diverse, interdisciplinary setting at the undergraduate level is required. Field, laboratory, or other research experience, ideally incorporating undergraduate students, preferred. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to energy, climate science, land use planning, environmental conservation, urban ecology, and agroecology. We seek an individual who can work at the interface between environmental science, environmental policy, and environmental equity, and who recognizes the importance of interdisciplinary exploration of challenging environmental problems. Our campus community represents the broad diversity of our state, and we believe that all are enriched and unified by this diversity. In that spirit, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of qualified people with the commitment and ability to work with a diverse student population. Interested candidates should consult the Department's website at www.csus.edu/envs/<http://www.csus.edu/envs/> for more information about existing programs.
