AAFCS has about 10,000 people signed up to “Dine In” for FCS Day. Please commit and encourage your students, constituents, and co-workers also. Information is given below or access the AAFCS website for more ideas.

Dear Candace,

We have exciting news—AAFCS is launching the first annual Family & Consumer Sciences Day on December 3, 2014!

The theme is “Dining In” for Healthy Families, and the goal of the campaign is to encourage 200,000 families to make and eat a healthy meal together.  December 3rd was chosen as Family & Consumer Sciences Day to honor family and consumer sciences pioneer and AAFCS founder Ellen Swallow Richards (December 3rd is her birthday).  Many activities are planned for that day, including conducting live interviews with family meal-related experts.

To reach our goal of 200,000 families, it’s going to take each and every one of us doing our part!  On behalf of the AAFCS Board of Directors, we are asking you to commit to “Dining In” on December 3rd<http://aafcs.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bee11993ef54296c205934b97&id=2d688155c6&e=4QcNSvpmpM> and to share this event with your network of family, friends, colleagues, and public officials.   On our Family & Consumer Sciences website<http://aafcs.us1.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=bee11993ef54296c205934b97&id=c2b194a569&e=4QcNSvpmpM>, you’ll find everything you need to participate in and promote Family & Consumer Sciences Day – “Dining In” for Healthy Families – such as:

  *   Proclamation template for local officials
  *   Social media graphics for your network
  *   Family mealtime resources
  *   “Dining In” commitment and sticker order form
  *   Logo to add to your email signature block
You’ll also find listed, a link to the FCCLA at the Table initiative.  It is filled with resources for secondary students.

Family & Consumer Sciences Day is also an opportunity to showcase the important work of family and consumer sciences professionals and students—think about ways you can increase your professional visibility on December 3rd and throughout the year ahead!
