Please plan to attend the entire conference as there are many exceptional workshops, paper presentations, poster presentations, research in progress presentations, symposia, and social events as well as our keynote luncheon. Wednesday: Important Events

•      New Member and First-Time Attendee Welcome Session: Hosted by Program Chair Lauren Angelone. All new MWERA members and first-time conference attendees are welcome to learn about the conference, how it is organized, and how to make the most of your time.

•      MWERA Presidential Address: Hosted by President Teresa Young.

•      Opening Night Presidential Reception: Hosted by the MWERA Board members. All our welcome to enjoy a cold beverage, appetizers, and quality conversation while browsing our poster presentations!
Thursday: Important Events

•      Continental Breakfast: All conference participants are welcome!

•      MWERA Association Council and Division Chair Business Luncheon: For Council and Chairs only.

•      Thursday Snack: Sponsored by the University of Kentucky

•      MWERA Poster Reception: All our welcome to enjoy a cold beverage, appetizers, and quality conversation while browsing our poster presentations!
Friday: Important Events

•      Continental Breakfast: All conference participants are welcome!

•      MWERA General Business Meeting and Division Business Meetings: MWERA leadership will present reports on this year’s activities. All MWERA members will also have the opportunity to vote on future leadership for MWERA. All are encouraged to attend.
-Keynote Speaker and Luncheon
As a friendly reminder, if you are presenting a paper (including research in progress), you should submit your full paper (not just the proposal) to All-Academic. It is very important that you submit your full paper to All-Academic so your session Chair and Discussant may review it in advance.  To submit your full paper to All-Academic, please visit the online schedule link listed above, login, and submit your full paper the same way you submitted your paper proposal (tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7crbkn9I6SM&feature=youtu.be). You may still submit your paper.

If you are serving as a chair or discussant, please review your roles.

Review Your Role as a Chair!  Chairs are responsible for the overall planning and execution of the session to facilitate the sessions’ success, as well as evaluation of the session. Responsibilities fall into the following two areas:


1.     In Advance of the Session: Download and read the papers for your session in order to prepare comments and organize your thoughts.



2.     At the Session: Open the session at the scheduled time and orient the audience to the context with a few brief introductory remarks. Introduce the participants before their presentations. Strictly limit time for each speaker and discussant. While chairs need to be attentive to time allocations, the role of chair is much more than keeping time. A session’s success may depend on the Chair’s ability to limit the time of presentations and temper discussion from the floor to allow sufficient time for interaction. Raise issues that can facilitate audience engagement and moderate panel or floor discussions. Adjourn the session in time to allow the room to clear before the next session begins and remind the audience to complete the evaluation form (if application).

Review Your Role as a Discussant! Discussants are responsible for commenting on papers and presentations to provide professional and constructive criticism and raise issues for broader consideration that connect to these works. Responsibilities fall into the following two areas:


1.     In Advance of the Session: Download and read the papers for your session in order to prepare comments and organize your thoughts. Prepare appropriate analytical or critical commentaries on the significance and contribution of the papers presented in the session. You are under no obligation to comment on papers not uploaded in the online program. Connect with the session chair to review the shape of the session and time constraints on the length of discussion.



2.     At the Session: Serve as commentator about the papers and issues on substantive points pertaining to these works. It is expected that you draw upon your expertise and views in commenting on papers or presentations; however, it is not the appropriate occasion to present your work. Provide comments on papers that will assist authors in taking steps toward publication in order to help authors minimize the time between presentation and publication. Such commentary may include remarks in the session, comments written directly on the papers, and/or discussions with the authors.
