Hi all,
See the included email.
I know a few of you have already attended such workshops, but I did want you to know about the following opportunities for professional development associated with delivery of co-requisite courses for purposes of delivering developmental mathematics.
I think we're going to be looking at this sort of model for more advanced courses as a way to handle the fact that folks are transferring in credits for pre-requisite courses without necessarily transferring in the associated skills...
Best,
Todd

Subject: RE: SSTF Campus Leads October Webinar
Hello all,

I'm forwarding the information on the Ohio Math Initiative workshops that was discussed at this morning's Team Lead webinar. Please share this with math faculty on your SSTF teams-they are among the leaders in the state on reform of developmental curricula. Teams of math faculty from all campuses are welcome to participate in the workshops. The workshops are scheduled from 9:00 to 1:00.

Thanks for your assistance.

Tom

OHIO MATHEMATICS INITIATIVE

The Ohio Mathematics Initiative Subgroup on New and Alternative Pathways is hosting regional workshops to support math instructors in delivering co-requisite math remediation. The workshop is best experienced as a team of instructors; however, faculty members will also receive meaningful content if attending as an individual.

Teams of math faculty are encouraged to attend one of these workshops to:

  * Explore with peers ways to enhance instruction in co-requisite mathematics and
  * Bolster the soft skills and learning behaviors among students receiving co-requisite math supports.

Time is built into the day to talk with participants from other institutions as well as your colleagues within your institution.
Choose a location convenient for your institution. There is no cost to attend; however, registration is required. Please click on the registration link for your desired workshop above. Each workshop will end with an optional networking brown bag lunch.
Please contact Calista Smith, Consultant, at csmith at highered.ohio.gov<mailto:csmith at highered.ohio.gov> or 513-252-8129 with any questions.
