Community Service Leadership Council:
Description: Informational meeting is being held for student that would like to be involved in helping plan our project of the weeks, decide where SCORE grants are given to help community based organizations for community service/philanthropy projects, and be apart of student outreach to expand the organizations.
When: Jan. 26 at 5:30-6:30pm
Where: Baker 233

Project of the week: Tornado Relief Demolition Project
Where: transportation provided
When: Saturday, January 29
Description:Volunteers are needed to help level a couple of mobile homes destroyed by the tornado last fall

Habitat Volunteers Needed:

Description: 3 or 4 people needed to help move furniture in their office
When: Thursday Jan. 27th at 12-3pm

Day Build Team Leaders:
Description: Day team builders needed to help supervise and coordinate activities for volunteers that day

Fund Raising Committee:
Description: 2 additional members are needed for fund raising committee

CASA/GAL Volunteers Needed:
Description: Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem needs volunteers to help focus on and advocate for individual children and sibling groups who have come into temporary custody, focusing on finding permanent placement in a safe and loving home.
When: Informational meeting for potential CASA volunteers will be held
Tuesday Feb. 1 at 5:30pm
Where: Athens Public Library (30 Home St. Athens, OHIO 45701)

Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Services:
Description: accepting applications for their academic internship program focused on the non profit sector at Georgetown University and provides students to gain valuable professional experience.
When: Priority deadline to Apply is Feb.3, 2011, applications on a rolling bases will be accepted until March 3, 2011.

Battle of the Chiefs*:
Description: A taste of Athens County, silent auction items to be auctioned off including a week in a condo at Key West, lunch with the Athens Mayor, and more to be announced.
Where: Inn at Hocking College
When: Feb. 26 at 6:00pm
Tickets: $20 per person $15 if you bring a guest

*Volunteers are not needed for this event, but it would be a great way to support the community.

Appalachian Community Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice:
Description: Need volunteers who will be staying in Athens during the summer and would be interested in helping out 3-4 hours per week coordinating the volunteers who grow and arrange flowers for hospice clients and to supervise the actual flower arrangement on Monday afternoons.This volunteer position would be great for anyone with a creative interest in flowers or who is interested in the therapeutic properties of flowers or who is interested in human resources and personnel management.
