*Job Description*

Intelligent Automation, Inc. is a Research and Development organization
headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.  We conduct state of the art R&D in
the fast evolving areas of Distributed Intelligent Systems, Education and
Training Systems, Robotics, Networks and Control.

We are looking for a candidate for the following position:

Research Scientist to join the Education and Training Technology (ETT)
group at IAI. The ETT group uses advanced technology solutions based on
cognitive learning theory to enhance learning, training and assessment.  ETT
applications span K-12, adult learners, military education and training,
and courseware development support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research related
to serious games and training technology and will have contributed
extensively to the development of at least one serious game or training
system. The ETT group constantly tackles emerging education and training
requirements with no clear “right solution.” The candidate must be able to
research and defend possible approaches to solving problems.  The ability
to learn new SDKs, APIs, or programming languages is a must.

*Responsibilities*

·         Lead the design of serious games and training systems

·         Contribute to project development through system design,
requirements gathering, and programming

·         Manage developers and artists to achieve project milestones

·         Write research proposals to fund new projects



*Qualifications*

·         Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Cognitive Science, Computer Science
(especially M&S)  or similar field (You must have experience with both
research and programming)

·         Expert knowledge in a major programming language (JAVA, C++/C#)

·         Experience with mobile development (iOS or Android)

·         In-depth knowledge of at least one game engine (Unity3D, UDK,
CryEngine)

·         Passion for game development, especially serious/educational games

·         Working knowledge of learning science

·         Effective oral and written communication skills

·         Experience integrating software to web-based backends a major plus

·         Experience writing research proposals a plus

·         Experience with agile development a plus

·         Experience using code versioning systems (SVN or Git)
