Hello Graduates,

Below is the new template for dissertations required by TAD.  You should
think about beginning the writing for your dissertation in the template as
it makes life so much easier when you are doing the final edits to post it
to TAD.

And if you look at the bottom, there is contact info for the person you
should talk to as you complete your proposal and final dissertation if you
have questions about using the template.  :)

Good morning,



You are receiving this email because you were listed as an advisor for a
student who completed the TAD process in a previous semester. Apologies if
you are no longer holding an advising role and have received this email
unnecessarily, but we aim to get information to advisors, and consequently
students who need it, as broadly as possible.



TAD Services has recently updated templates for all colleges. Using the
template can save students hours in the formatting process, as the minimum
requirements for publication have already been incorporated into the
template. The Graduate College is currently in the process of migrating to
a new website platform, which means the 2017 TAD templates will not be
available on the website until the migration is complete in November of
this year. *The 2017 Patton College template is attached to this email*,
and we encourage you to distribute it to students. Students may also
contact TAD Services to request the template.



Deadlines for the 2017-2018 academic year are posted on the TAD website:
https://www.ohio.edu/graduate/etd/. Deadlines for the current semester are
always located in the upper-right corner of the page. TAD Services also
provides workshops in the Fall and Spring semester for students who would
like additional training in meeting TAD requirements, formatting documents
in MS Word, and formatting tables and figures in MS Word. The workshop
schedule for the upcoming academic year is also posted on the TAD website.
We want to make sure that students and their committees are aware of the
deadlines and resources available throughout the TAD process, and we would
like to ask you to share these resources with your advisees and anyone else
you feel may benefit from this information.



In addition to TAD Services, where we work on getting the document
publication-ready, the *Graduate Writing and Research Center*
<https://www.ohio.edu/graduate/gwrc/> is a valuable resource during the
research and writing stage of the process with writing groups, in-class
workshops, individual appointments, and tutoring.



Please be aware when advising students about the Early deadlines for the
next semester that it is highly advised that students request an optional
pre-defense format review and to be aware that these deadlines fall over
the intersessions, including Winter break, the lead up to commencement, and
new student orientation. TAD Services presents these deadlines as a *safety
net* and not a primary graduation target for this reason.
