The Patton College Dean’s Office is *currently seeking a full (20 hours per
week; fall 2014 and spring 2015) graduate assistant* to lead
advocacy-related initiatives during the 2014-15 academic year. The
qualified candidate will be an excellent public speaker, possess superior
interpersonal skills, and be highly committed to promoting positive change
in communities, educational systems, and public agencies.
The Patton College is a comprehensive college of education, with five
departments: Counseling and Higher Education; Educational Studies; Human
and Consumer Sciences; Recreation and Sport Pedagogy; and Teacher
Education. The advocacy work led by this GA should embrace both
undergraduate and graduate programs across the departments. Work with
student leadership organizations in each department is essential to
realizing the College-Wide mission in our advocacy efforts. We are CALLED
to Lead (*c*hange *a*gents, *l*ife-*l*ong learners, *e*mbracing *d*
iversity).
Specific responsibilities of the Advocacy Graduate Assistant will include
coordinating the Leadership and Advocacy Summit (held in fall term);
coordinating activities associated with the Ohio Student Education Policy
Institute; engaging and coordinating the advocacy work of student
organizations; arranging and coordinating visits and meetings with state
legislators; and performing other duties as assigned.
