The African Studies Program is pleased to host a symposium- September
28-29, 2012- *Concerning the Horn *in tribute to pioneer publisher Kassahun
Checole of the Africa World Press. This two day symposium is designed to
promote critical understanding of the crises and their impacts on the
states, peoples and cultures of the region—including border disputes,
displacement of populations, security, human rights, and halting of peace
initiatives—by presentations of some of the leading Horn scholars. Click

Tropical Disease Institute (TDI) is holding an information session on TDI
and healthy living initiative on September 26 at Donkey Coffee at 6:30pm.
They will also be tabling at Baker Center and sell jewelry, t-shirts, etc.,
from September 26-27 between 10:00am-1:00pm. All proceeds will be donated

On October 1st, stop by the Peace Corps Table on the 1st floor of Baker and
learn more about opportunities to serve overseas. Also, stop by the Career
Services Center to speak directly with a Peace Corps Recruiter.****

On October 2nd, an information session will be held in the Career Services
Center Classroom in Baker 5th floor.  You will get to watch a short video
highlighting a few volunteers in their global communities, talk about the
application process, and discuss the benefits of service****

*Leadership*

The American Political Science Association (APSA) is now accepting
proposals from political scientists interested in serving as co-leaders for
the 6th annual APSA Africa Workshop. This two-week political science
workshop will take place in the summer of 2013. Submissions must come from
a team of two US-based and two Africa-based scholars. Those applying to be
co-leaders must propose a workshop theme, location, and African
institutional partner. Click
