HI Fellows: The JAOA is interested in including articles about health policy issues in the JAOA. Recent submissions by the HPF Class of 2014 have highlighted the need for reviewers familiar with health policy issues and the policy analysis process.
Who better than HPF grads?
According to the JAOA, submissions must meet the following requirements: "Manuscripts for this section should provide clear overviews of public policy, legislative proposals, or other issues related to health care cost, quality, and accessibility that may impact osteopathic medicine. Health Policy manuscripts should consist of the following 5 sections: (1) a 1-2 paragraph introduction to the topic with key statistics, ending with an objective statement; (2) a 1-2 paragraph history and background of the issue being discussed; (3) a summary of the stakeholders' arguments for and against actions related to the issue (including the AOA's position, when applicable); (4) recommendations of the author; and (5) references. Health Policy submissions do not require abstracts. Authors should limit submissions to approximately 1500 words with no more than 20 references and 1 table or figure, if appropriate. Because these types of submissions are time sensitive, the JAOA will consider these to be high priority for publication once they are accepted by the editor in chief for publication."
If you interested in reviewing submissions about health policy issues in which you are expert, please contact JAOA managing editor Audrey Lusher at alusher at osteopathic.org<mailto:alusher at osteopathic.org>.
Thanks for supporting your HPF colleagues. NC
