Hi Fellows and List Serve Members:

 

The Board of Governors of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic
Medicine appointed Michael D. Adelman, D.O., J.D., Health Policy
Fellowship Class of 1994-1995, as Acting President effective April,
2010.   Dr. Adelman been at WVSOM since 2002, and has been serving as
Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean.  

 

Scott A. Steingard, D.O., Health Policy Fellowship Class of 1999, was
elected to the Board of Directors of the Federation of State Medical
Boards (FSMB) on April 24, 2010, at their annual meeting in Chicago.
The FSMB has over 70 member boards from the United States and other
countries.  Dr. Steingard is currently the President of the AZ Board of
Osteopathic Examiners. He was appointed to the AZ Board in 2005. Dr
Steingard practices family and sports medicine in Phoenix, AZ. 

 

In the democratic primary race for Kentucky State Representative in the
12th District, Larry Suess, D.O., Health Policy Fellowship Class of
1999, was defeated by incumbent Jim Gooch, Jr. Gooch has held the seat
since 1995.  Dr. Suess is a psychiatrist practicing in Hansen, Kentucky.


 

Mark A. Sanders, D.O., J.D., MPH, Health Policy Fellowship Class of
2009, recently accepted a position as Chair of Family Medicine at
Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Downer's Grove, Illinois.  Dr. Sanders formerly served as Associate
Professor, Chief of the Division of Palliative Medicine at the
University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
He also practiced law at Dr. Sanders Law in Fort Worth.

 

Robert Hunter, D.O., FACOFP, FACOEP, Health Policy Fellowship Class of
2010, was elected as Second Vice President of the Ohio Osteopathic
Association at the recent OOA convention in Columbus, Ohio.  Dr. Hunter
was also elected to Vice President of the Ohio Society of the American
College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.  Dr. Hunter has been nominated
to chair the SIG Osteopathic Committee for American Academy of Hospice
and Palliative Medicine.  Dr. Hunter is a family physician and emergency
physician in Huber Heights, Ohio.  

 

Thanks to all of you who passed along recommendations for potential
applicants to the Health Policy Fellowship Class of 2011.  Members of
the new class will be announced in July.  NC
