Hi Fellows and List Serve Members:

Anna Hayden, D.O., HPF Class of 2008-2009, family physician with Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale Florida, has been appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to serve on the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine.  The Board protects the lives of Florida citizens by evaluating physician compliance with Florida statues regarding medical licensure.  Prior to the appointment, Dr. Hayden served on the Combined Pain Rules Board on behalf of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.

Kenneth J Steier, DO, MPH, MHA, MGH, Health Policy Fellowship Class of 2002-2003, has been named Medical Director of Pre-Surgical Testing at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, an 827-bed voluntary, non-profit tertiary care center serving the greater metropolitan New York area.  LIJ is part of the North-Shore/Long Island Jewish Health Care System, a nonprofit corporation with a $5 billion dollar annual operating budget, and consisting of 14 hospitals with over 38,000 employees. It is the largest healthcare employer on Long Island and has won numerous national patient safety and quality awards.

Dr. Steier is a member of the AOA Bureau of Medical Specialties and is a COCA college evaluator.  Dr. Steier also has federal appointments with HRSA and the FDA.

The announcement sent last week about Judith Edinger's untimely passing incorrectly stated that Judith began working with the Health Policy Fellowship in 1994.  Ms. Edinger joined the staff of the HPF in 1996.
