<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Funded Graduate Opportunity in Geography - Starting Fall 2024</span></b><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><br>

Please circulate this opportunity among students who might be interested in pursuing graduate degree in Geography. PhD preferred, but excellent Master's students may also be considered.<br>

<br>
A graduate student is being sought to join the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences at Kansas State University to assist on an NSF funded project focusing on the development and expansion of technology into controlled burning practices in grasslands.<br>
<br>
The student's work on the project will focus on generating data to examine how the use of technology (e.g. drones, controlled fire simulation etc) shapes perceptions of a landscape and practices of prescribed fire use. The student will also provide support
for community outreach activities and educational events focused on prescribed burning.<br>
<br>
The graduate research assistantship includes up to three years of full funding beginning in Fall 2024, with additional funding opportunities (GTA or RA) available pending satisfactory progress. The student will be supervised by Dr. Audrey Joslin and receive
a competitive stipend, tuition waiver, and support for conference participation.<br>

Key responsibilities & opportunities:<br>

* Work with Dr. Joslin and collaborators to support fieldwork and outreach activities in rural Kansas communities.<br>
* Contribute to peer-reviewed journal articles, academic presentations, and outreach materials.<br>

Required qualifications:<br>
<br>
* Interest in prescribed burning<br>
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills<br>
* Educational background in Geography or related field<br>
* Interest in learning and/or expanding knowledge in qualitative research techniques<br>

Start: The Assistantship starts in August 2024.<br>
