<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">The Geological Society of America serves as a clearinghouse for applications for summer GeoCorps and the National Park Service Geoscientists in the Park (GIP) internships. These are paid, and I don’t believe
students need to be GSA members to apply. At least one geographer in the recent past has obtained one of these positions. Geospatial technique skills and willingness to do fieldwork are very helpful for obtaining one of these paid positions, which are excellent
