New Employment Opportunities at U.S. Census Bureau

The Population Division of the U.S. Census Bureau has employment opportunities for people with skills in geography/GIS, programming, data science, and related fields.

We are looking for highly qualified people with training in GIS, Python and R, and population geography or demography, among other specialties.

Salaries reflect experience and the level of education completed.  All positions require U.S. citizenship.

Census HQ is in the Washington, DC, area and is located next to a subway station.  All employees are currently performing full-time telework while HQ is renovated.

Openings offer qualified applicants an opportunity to work on a range of projects, including:  producing population estimates for other countries and studying their subnational demographic characteristics; developing methods for high-resolution gridded population mapping; Python and R programming to improve data acquisition, processing, and analysis; and mapping population globally and in the U.S.

International population mapping activities at the Census Bureau provide data and maps needed for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief worldwide.
