Subject: Upcoming Opportunities at ArborMetrics Solutions for Utility Foresters

We are currently accepting applications for two postings that line up nicely with the end of the school year right around the corner. The first posting is listed for Columbus and the internship is listed for Pittsburgh but students from anywhere in the country are welcome to apply as travel will be required for both.

The first opportunity is for project work (6-8 months) on the West Coast beginning in May. We are looking for motivated individuals with degrees in Forestry, Natural Resource Sciences/Management, Horticulture or related fields. Job responsibilities will vary but will focus on vegetation management projects around enhancing reliability near distribution electric systems recently impacted by wild fires. Good candidates will possess excellent organizational and communication skills to help them coordinate simultaneous projects with property owners and tree vendors. Candidates should be flexible for scheduling and will be expected to work 60 hours a week. Compensation will range from $30-$55/hour with significant per diems to cover food and lodging. Flights to and from the West Coast, vehicles, fuel, computer and phone will be provided by the company. On the job training will be provided, however candidates should have coursework background in dendrology and tree/plant physiology.

The second opportunity is for a paid summer internship with ArborMetrics. The position will require travel, paid for by the company, and will be an introduction to utility forestry and work planning. Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to; inspecting rights-of-way to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance activities, property owner notification, and the creation of maps and work manifests. Candidates should possess good computer skills, a basic understanding of tree physiology and the ability to identify common tree species in our region.
