Sanitarian I/II
Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Sanitarian I/II vacancy in the Water Quality Division. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and manage geographical information systems (GIS) data; coordinate and provide stormwater pollution prevention training; perform global positioning system (GPS) field mapping; and conduct community health inspections to ensure compliance with local and state requirements. Requirements include: State of Ohio Registered Sanitarian or Sanitarian in Training Registration or ability to obtain; Bachelor's Degree in Science; Valid Driver's License and private vehicle for job use. Candidate(s) with formal GIS training (degree, minor, certificate, etc.) and applicable experience/training, a basic knowledge of water pollutants, collection techniques, and a demonstrable ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions are preferred. Some evening and weekend hours required.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  *   Analyzing and interpreting GIS data used in the production of maps, reports, and other products. Developing and implementing methodologies for creation and use of spatial data, including digitizing, editing, coding, and annotating line, point and polygon data. Managing activities and consulting with departments in the development of their GIS plans, goals and objectives. Coordinating GIS activities between the organization and other external agencies.
  *   Performing onsite inspection of sewage treatment systems (including routine lifting of concrete lids) and GPS mapping of sewage treatment systems to ensure compliance with required public health standards and state and local regulations.
  *   Providing technical advice to owners, operators and contractors on matters relating to sewage treatment systems and stormwater pollution prevention.
  *   Preparing correspondence, records and reports concerning inspections made.
  *   Providing presentations for stormwater government facility training; updating Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans; and providing education, outreach and involvement assistance to the public about stormwater pollution prevention.
  *   Working collaboratively with other officials, agencies, and government facilities in the promotion of stormwater pollution prevention and improved environmental health.
