Masters in Marine Resources Management

As an assistant professor at the Department of Marine Sciences at Texas A&M University at Galveston, I am seeking graduate students with interests in coastal hazards and GIS for admission to our two-year Master's in Marine Resources Management program (www.tamug.edu/mars/Graduate%20Studies/Grad_degrees.html<http://www.tamug.edu/mars/Graduate%20Studies/Grad_degrees.html>). Admitted students would have the opportunity to conduct research related to the development and user testing of geospatial applications for communicating coastal climate change and associated hazards. Specific projects might include user testing and design work with an existing coastal atlas product (www.tamug.edu/ctbs/Atlas/index.html<http://www.tamug.edu/ctbs/Atlas/index.html>) or assistance with development of a new mobile augmented reality application for communicating storm surge risk. Experience with GIS software is strongly preferred; programming and web development skills (including experience with CSS, JavaScript, and/or Python) are desired. To support their studies in the Master's program, selected applicants may be eligible for financial support through teaching assistant positions.
