Rural Action is recruiting 2 full-time AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers who will map the programs, projects, and services that help move people out of poverty, as well as gaps in those efforts, across 6 southeast Ohio counties.


General Qualifications

All AmeriCorps VISTA members need the following skills:

• An interest in learning about and exploring new solutions for our communities

• The ability to communicate in words and writing

• Email and MS Word computer skills

• Experience working with volunteers

• The ability to speak to a group and work with diverse people

• Transportation and a valid driver’s license needed

• Respect and appreciation for rural communities and people

VISTA volunteers serve full-time for 12 months in communities of need. Members selected for the upcoming term will serve from November 14th, 2016 through November 13th, 2017.



An annual living allowance of $10,930

An education award in the amount of $5,775 for a completed term of service, which can be used to pay for existing federal student loans or be applied towards future education expenses

12 months of noncompetitive status for government jobs after completion of service
