USGS Menlo Park has a job opportunity focused on generating high-resolution topography through SfM and lidar.  The hire is at a GS-7 (Bachelor’s degree plus experience) with promotion potential to GS-9 (MS or equivalent experience) level.

The incumbent would:
-                Perform geographic information analysis including: acquiring, manipulating, displaying and archiving topographic data sets.
-                Acquire scientific data through aerial photography, LiDAR, and GPS survey.
-                Learn and apply programming languages (e.g. Python) to transfer scientific data between systems.
-                Assist higher level scientists prepare GIS databases and maps that include surficial earth data, and perform basic raster and vector analyses.
-                Collect and organize time­series soil moisture and weather data used to evaluate geomorphic process models.
