Education
TRAINING: BACHELOR'S DEGREE, INCLUDING SIX SEMESTER HOURS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE OR GIS FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH DEGREES IN GEOGRAPHY, CARTOGRAPHY, GEOLOGY, FORESTRY, NATURAL OR EARTH SCIENCES, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, ENGINEERING, ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY, MATHEMATICS, COMPUTER SCIENCE, PLANNING OR A RELATED FIELD. SUBSTITUTION: A PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA FROM NATIONAL GEOSPATIAL-INTELLIGENCE COLLEGE OF THE NATIONAL GEOSPATIAL-INTELLIGENCE AGENCY MAY SUBSTITUTE FOR THE TRAINING.
Job Description
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION, THIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING BASIC TO MODERATE GIS ANALYSIS TO RESPOND TO INFORMATIONAL REQUESTS, AND TO RESPOND TO STAKEHOLDERS QUESTIONS, CREATING MAP PRODUCTS USING ESRI ARCGIS DESKTOP BOTH MANUALLY AND THROUGH AUTOMATED PROCESSES TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF PROJECTS AND CUSTOMERS, AND ASSISTING IN GATHERING, ANALYZING, AND INTEGRATING SPATIAL DATA FROM INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SOURCES TO DETERMINE HOW BEST THE INFORMATION CAN BE DISPLAYED TO AUDIENCES. THIS POSITION WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TESTING MAP APPLICATIONS AND PREPARING USER MANUALS AND CONDUCTING TRAININGS FOR PROGRAM STAFF AND OTHERS. THIS POSITION WILL BE ASKED TO ASSIST IN DEVELOPING AND MAINTAINING ASP.NET WEB APPLICATIONS UTILIZING C# CODING AS WELL AS WEB MAPPING APPLICATIONS USING THE ESRI JAVASCRIPT API. IN ADDITION TO THESE TASKS, THIS POSITION WILL ALSO ASSIST IN PROVIDING USER SUPPORT FOR GIS APPLICATIONS, ASSIST IN THE TRAINING AND UPKEEP OF GIS HARDWARE (GPS, LAPTOPS, DESKTOPS, ETC.) AND ATTEND APPROPRIATE TRAININGS, CONFERENCES, AND MEETINGS WITH FEDERAL AND STATE PARTNERS. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. PREFERENCE GIVEN TO INDIVIDUALS WITH EXPERIENCE IN ASP.NET APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT, C# CODING LANGUAGE, PYTHON, AND/OR CREATING WEB BASED MAPPING APPLICATION USING ESRI'S JAVASCRIPT API.
