PhD Student and Atlas Assistant Announcement

We invite prospective PhD students interested in research on how geospatial technologies can help people engage with the natural and built environment are invited to apply to the Department of Geography at the University of Oregon for the academic year starting in September 2017. The PhD student should also have cartographic design skills necessary to work as a graduate employee on the Atlas of Yellowstone, 2nd Edition which will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the world’s first national park. The position includes up to four years of monthly stipends, graduate tuition, and health benefits.

The ideal candidate has interest in collaborating on a research product to design a mobile network system for assisting the movement of people with disabilities through Yellowstone Park’s public spaces, as well as having cartographic design expertise necessary for the position with the Atlas of Yellowstone. The Second Edition and associated products will offer opportunities to develop new approaches for representing the highly diverse natural and human environments that connect the Greater Yellowstone Area.
