Transportation Planner/GIS Coordinator

The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association has an immediate opening for a Transportation Planner/GIS Coordinator. A Bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, or geography with a focus on regional transportation planning and a minimum of two years demonstrated GIS experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in transportation and demonstrated GIS experience, or equivalent is required. Graduate degrees may count towards years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include development and revisions to regional transportation plans, providing technical assistance including but not limited to roadway safety audits and programs, Safe Routes to School, traffic counts, asset management, active transportation systems, transportation grant writing, and other transportation planning activities. Responsibilities also include participation in statewide planning activities, meetings with federal, state and local officials; leading public outreach efforts; and other duties as assigned. Proficiency in geographic information systems (ARC GIS 10.1 or equivalent) and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of transportation systems, regional planning, environmental regulation, and government grant programs for transportation projects preferred. Regional travel and evening meetings will be regularly required. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position and salary is based upon education and experience.
