Title: Natural Resource Specialist (Bat Research Technician)

Job Description: Field assistants (2) needed for bat research project in southern Ohio, from early June through August. The primary field study site is located in Hocking County. Primary duties include radio-tracking bats and assisting with night-time mist net surveys. This includes navigating with map and compass as well as GPS, operating radio-telemetry equipment, triangulating locations, and recording data. Additional duties include net and equipment maintenance, equipment decontamination, data entry, and assisting with related bat research projects around Ohio.

Location: Hocking County, Ohio

Salary: $1300-1500/month plus field housing provided.

Qualifications: Ability to happily hike off-trail through difficult terrain and conditions. Willingness to work long hours in remote locations at night. Good map and compass and GPS skills are required. The ability to adapt to a changing schedule is required. Preference for individuals that have prior experience with radio-telemetry and bats (with pre-exposure rabies vaccinations), but not necessary if applicant is motivated to learn and gain new research experiences. A valid state driver's license and background check are required.
