FYI: Somehow in the editing process the following important and most recent marker was left off:


   “Chauncey Boys” Project honoring three Civil War Patriots, Dover Twp. Park, Chauncey, 2022.

•  Poignant story of three young men from the Village of Chauncey who enlisted in a Loyalist Union regiment in western Virginia in 1862 called at the time the 1st Virginia Cavalry (USA).

•  Describes the valiant efforts of these young men to defeat the rebellion, which cost one them his life at Gettysburg, and the others their lives within a few short years of the war’s end.

•  Depicts the survivors short post-war careers – one as a medical school graduate practicing in Southeastern Ohio, and other working at the Freedmen’s Bureau headquarters in Washington, D.C.
