Dear Emeriti:

We hope this message finds you and your family well.  The new academic year looks to be difficult indeed, for faculty, students and the community, but we can work to stay in touch with each other as much as possible.

The Emeriti Board has met by Zoom and made initial plans for the Association for Fall semester.  We do not feel that any luncheons will be possible.  However we hope to provide online opportunities for all Emeriti to meet with each other.

First, the Board plans to send a welcoming letter by US Mail to all emeriti, including our forty-seven new members.  The timing of the letter will be determined by when Mail Services is able to produce mailing addresses but we hope the letters will be ready to post in September.

Secondly, we are scheduling a Zoom meeting for all Emeriti on Thursday, Oct 15 at 11am.  The September mailing will provide instructions for the meeting.  At this meeting we will be pleased to introduce our new emeriti and honor them for their many years of service.  Also planned for this meeting are research presentations by two of the students whose research was supported last year by the Emeriti Association.

Lastly, with this email we want to address the make-up of the Board for the 2020-2021 year.  The Emeriti Association constitution calls for action by the membership present at the April meeting on a slate of Board Members presented by the Nominating committee for the following year. Since the April meeting was cancelled because of the pandemic, no action was taken. However, the Nominating has now met electronically and a slate of board members is presented. After discussion, it was moved by Leslie Flemming and seconded by Scott Malcom that: The Board shall inform the membership of the recommendations of the Nominating Committee; and will recognize this slate of officers until the April meeting of 2021. It was further proposed and recommended that the Board will send notification to all the members informing them of the actions of the Nominating Committee and those of the Board.  The Nominating Committee recommended the following:  President, Rosemary Rossiter; Vice-President Scott Moody, Secretary Allyn Reilly, Treasurer Leslie Flemming, Past President Alan Boyd. Committee members who serve on the Board are as follows: Membership Scott Malcom, Benefits and OCHER Representative Rosemary Rossiter; Volunteer Services Jared Butcher; Emeriti Park Richard Dean; Nominating Committee John Howell, Archivist/Historian Anne Braxton; and Website Manager Richard Post.
