Dear Fellow CS PhD Students,

My name is Jacob Schaupp and I am gathering feedback and student comments to be presented to the faculty and staff at the yearly faculty retreat! As there are many of us spread around across different labs, it is quite difficult to meet everyone in person. Me and the department would really appreciate hearing the comments from all students! If you have a moment, I would appreciate it if you would reach out to me through email<mailto:js400421 at ohio.edu> with some comments. Or feel free to schedule a meeting in person with me if you would prefer. All responses will be summarized and kept anonymous.

Here are a few prompts to get the thoughts rolling!

  1. What is your favorite part about being a PhD student at Ohio University?

  1. How about the opposite, where is there extra friction from a university standpoint involved in your progress?

  1. "Forever OHIO" is a common tagline used by the university to express unity and belonging! What are your feelings regarding the sense of community at Russ College?

  1. Do you feel there are enough courses offered which cover all areas of interest?

  1. Do you collaborate in your research? If so, how did you start? If not, would you like to and how might that be supported? (Maybe a shared common research area?)

  1. Do you feel that the department has a strong understanding of where you are in your research progress?

  1. What are your thoughts on the advising support that you receive?

  1. What changes do you think would best improve the department if enacted?

I know how busy everyone must be right now. Thank you very much for your time! I look forward to hearing from all of you soon.

Warm Regards,
Jacob Schaupp
