Introduction to designing digital systems in FPGAs
ARC 221 - Tuesday, June 7th, 11 AM to 12:30 PM AND Thursday, June 9th, 11 AM to 12:30 PM
In this short-course style set of two seminars Dr Rahman will discuss the programmable logic alternative to microcontrollers/microprocessors, for processing digital information. The two seminar sessions will look at the advantages that field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) offer for implementing digital systems - and also when to avoid them. In this two-session practical course, commercially available FPGAs, their programming environment and development systems will be examined. Design and implementation of a complete digital system will also be demonstrated. This set of seminars is a good starting point for understanding exactly what FPGAs are and what they can do. This compact self-contained introduction will start with assuming no prior knowledge of FPGAs and will end with the development of a fully-implemented real application. Further learning resources will be pointed out for anyone who may be interested in knowing more about FPGAs.
Regards,
Faiz
