Hi Wojciech,
My name is Melvin Karupati, and I co-lead Hack The Nest, Eastern Michigan University's first hackathon. It is a 24 hour hackathon running Saturday November 14 through Sunday November 15 in Ypsilanti, and it is free to attend and open to undergraduates (including community college students), graduate students and postdocs from any school and any major.
Would you be willing to forward the message below to the students in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science program? With SICK and Kawasaki Robotics partnering with us this year, it is a particularly good fit for your students. It is written to be sent as is, so there is nothing else we would need from you.
Happy to answer any questions at all, and thank you for your time.
Best regards,
Melvin Karupati

Dear Students,
Hack The Nest is Eastern Michigan University's first hackathon: 24 hours of building, Saturday November 14 to Sunday November 15, at the EMU Student Center and Halle Library in Ypsilanti. It is student-led, free to attend, and open to students from any college and any major.

A hackathon is a weekend where students build something that solves a real problem. Teams form on site, work through the night, and present what they made to judges. It has nothing to do with breaking into systems, and no coding background is required.
You do not need to be a computer science student. We are running a hardware track alongside the software work, and the teams that do best are rarely the most technical ones. They are the teams that picked a problem worth solving and could explain who it helps and why. First-time attendees are exactly who this event is built for.
* When: Saturday Nov 14, 9:00 AM to Sunday Nov 15, 4:00 PM
* Where: EMU Student Center (check-in) and Halle Library, Ypsilanti, MI
* We are not able to cover travel. Teams often carpool or road-trip to hackathons.
* Free to attend for undergraduates (including community college students), graduate students and postdocs from any college and any major, plus anyone who graduated within the past year
* No experience needed
* Free meals and swag all weekend
* Halle Library stays open all night, so there is space to work or rest between builds
* Bring your own team of up to 4, or come solo and we will match you with a team at our team-matching session
* Beginner workshops and mentors available the whole time
* Prizes across multiple tracks
* Bring a laptop, charger, photo ID and anything you need to stay overnight
Hack The Nest is hosted by Google Developer Group on Campus at EMU. This year SICK, who make sensors and LiDAR for automation, and Kawasaki Robotics, who build industrial robots, are partnering with Hack The Nest, so hardware, embedded and robotics projects fit right in. We are also planning a robotics exhibition, and more robotics companies are coming on board. Other partners so far include OpenAI, IBM, NASA (through the Michigan Space Grant Consortium), Quantum Rings, ElevenLabs and g.tec, with more joining. We are expecting 600+ attendees from EMU and across the Midwest.
