Subject: EECS Annual Retreat Questions for Graduate Students

Hello,

My name is Robin Kelby. I am in my second year as a MS CS graduate student. I will be attending the EECS Annual Retreat and representing EECS graduate students and their experiences in a few weeks. In order to do this, I would like to hear from as many EECS graduate students as I can. If you have responded to this survey already, or have talked to the other graduate representatives Akanksha Rohit or Quintin Fettes, thank you for your input!

I have some questions to ask you:

  1. What is your specific program, year, and background?
  2. Why did you choose to pursue a graduate degree in EECS from Ohio University?
  3. Tell me about your experience in the EECS new graduate student orientation, as well as the process of reading, understanding, and following your program guidelines.
  4. Tell me about your experience choosing classes.
  5. Tell me about your experience in making and revising a program of study.
  6. Tell me about your experience choosing an adviser and putting together your committee.
  7. Tell me about your experience with research, working towards a project, thesis, or dissertation.
  8. In addition to your answers above, what positive experiences have you had as a graduate student in the EECS department?
  9. In addition to your answers above, what negative experiences have you had as a graduate student in the EECS department?
  10. How can the EECS department improve its graduate programs?
  11. Finally, is there anything else you would like to share?
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at rk345613 at ohio.edu<mailto:rk345613 at ohio.edu>. I look forward to presenting your responses.

Best,

Robin Kelby
