Dear CSMS Students,

I write this email to explain the differences between the current CSMS Program guidelines available here https://www.ohio.edu/engineering/sites/ohio.edu.engineering/files/sites/engineering/MSCS-Guidelines-Fall-2016-or-Later_March-2016.pdf and the new CSMS Program requirements, see Program: Computer Science - MS - Ohio University - Modern Campus Catalog(tm)<https://www.catalogs.ohio.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=97&poid=31431&hl=%22MS7260%22&returnto=search>.

The major differences between the Old and New CSMS programs are:

  * Old CSMS Thesis requirements: choose 4 courses and 4 courses must be at 6000-level, 9 credits of CS6950, 2 credits of EE69481, and 1 credit of ET60203, total credits required is 30
  * Old CSMS Non-Thesis requirements: choose 6 courses and 4 courses must be at 6000-level, 3 credits of EE6943, 2 credits of EE69481, and 1 credit of ET60203, total credits required is 30
  * New CSMS Thesis requirements: choose 4 courses and 3 courses must be at 6000-level, 9 credits of CS6950, 2 credits of EE69481, and 1 credit of ET60203, total credits required is 30
  * New CSMS Non-Thesis requirements: choose 8 courses at the 5000 level or higher, and 3 courses must be at 6000-level, 2 credits of EE69481, and 1 credit of ET60203, total credits required is 36.

Students admitted to the MS7260 under the old guidance may choose to switch to the new guidelines and pursue the program MS7260 requirements as stipulated above for a specific tract.
Students should review their current PoS on file and make sure they are error-free resulting from the transition between two different MS7260 program guidelines. Please consult with the Grad Chair's office if you have questions. Thank you.

Best,
Dr.J
