EE 4900/5900 : CMOS Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) Design (Class Number: 2355/2357, Credit hours: 3)
The course will teach the principles of CMOS based analog integrated circuit design for wireless applications at radio frequencies. Specifically, the design principles of integrated circuits for wireless communication of signals and data in devices such as mobile phones, GPS receivers, implantable and wearable medical accessories etc. will be considered. Hands on practical implementation with these circuits using state-of-the art industry standard electronic design automation tool and PDKs will be supplemented.
At the end of the course, the students are expected to learn the theory behind the design and development of CMOS radio frequency integrated circuits and the practical implementation of such analog circuits using industry standard EDA tool. The course will prepare them to pursue their future career in semiconductor industries such as Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Maxim Integrated, IBM Microelectronics among others or in academics for further research in RFIC design.
