<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="color:black">Biography:</span></b><span style="color:black"> Anton Zeilinger, born in 1945 in Ried im Innkreis, Austria, studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Vienna (1963-1971).
He earned his doctorate in 1971, followed by his habilitation at the Vienna University of Technology, in 1979.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:black">Zeilinger held visiting positions at MIT with Clifford G. Shull (Nobel Prize 1994), at the Institut Laue-Langevin Grenoble, at the University of Melbourne, at the Collège de France, at
the University of Oxford, at the Technical University of Munich, and at the Humboldt University of Berlin.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:black">In 1990, Zeilinger was appointed Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck, and in 1999 at the University of Vienna. From 2004-2013 he was Founding Director of
the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI Vienna) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and from 2013-2022 he held the presidency of that Academy. He is presently Professor Emeritus at the University of Vienna and Senior Scientist at IQOQI
Vienna.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:black">Zeilinger has also launched important initiatives outside physics, such as the founding of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria), the founding of the International
Academy Traunkirchen, and the project Exile & Excellence: a film about the personal stories of 16 outstanding scientists who had to leave Austria due to persecution by the Nazis.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:black">His many honors and awards include the Order Pour le Mérite (2001), the Inaugural Isaac Newton Medal (2008), the Wolf Prize (2010) and the Nobel Prize in Physics (2022) together with
Alain Aspect and John Clauser.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
