[Eecs_bscs] Volunteer Opportunity for CS Students

Good Morning,



I am contacting you because it is my understanding that you manage the advising department for computer science and engineering undergraduate students. Our office and sister organization, Legal Aid Society of Columbus, has a data entry project that we think may be a good fit for CSE students. We were wondering if you knew of any students that may be interested?



The time commitment depends on the level of response we receive, but we are generally looking for students that can commit to at least 3 hours per week.



The project will involve compiling the Ohio Department of Education's data on school removals per school district into a single spreadsheet. We are hoping to identify schools with high removal rates of students pre-k through 3rd grade, and in particular disproportionate removal rates of students of color to target our advocacy and help marginalized families.



This data is also important because a recent Ohio law now prohibits removals of pre-k to third grade students in most circumstances.
