DAAD RISE INTERNSHIP AWARD - DEADLINE: DECEMBER 15
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students (sophomores and juniors) in the fields of biology,
chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers opportunities for students to work with research
groups at universities and top research institutions in Germany for 2 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns
assist German doctoral student mentors. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and having a GPA of 3.7 or higher is

HOLLINGS SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE: JANUARY 31
The Hollings Scholarship, funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is a prestigious
award available to sophomore students, or third-year students who will be taking five years of college courses, with
at least a 3.0 GPA in fields such as biology, meteorology, engineering, chemistry, mathematics, geology, physics
and science education and who are US citizens. The award provides up to $9,500 in academic assistance junior
year, which may be renewed for senior year. In addition to financial support, the scholarship offers awardees a fulltime,
paid summer research internship at a NOAA research institute after their junior year, plus two funded trips to

BOREN SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 21
Provides up to $20,000 to U.S. citizen undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world critical to
U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia,
Latin American, and the Middle East. The program focuses on U.S. security issues and awardees must work for
the U.S. federal government for at least a year within three years of graduation. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors,
preferably with a 3.7 GPA or higher, could apply. There is a special option for STEM students to study abroad for
