Please pass this along to any interested students majoring in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering!
There are two positions currently open; one is located in the Avionics Branch and the other is in the in Information and Signal Processing Branch both in the Research and Engineering Directorate and is for Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering majors.
These Pathways Internships are intended to begin in the Summer/Fall of 2016. There are several flexible scheduling options, if you are interested and able to do rotations either during summers or other breaks, or also during a semester from school. As long as you work 640 hours prior to graduation, there is flexibility on how you complete the hours. It is not absolutely necessary to take a semester off of school, but it's also an option. One specific item to pay attention to however, is that this program requires the student to be in school for at least one calendar year prior to graduation, so if you are interested and willing, you MUST indicate on your resume that your graduation date would be a year later than the date specified on the announcement or later. *If you are a graduating senior, and are accepted into graduate school, please put the planned graduate degree date as your graduation date.
While this is an intern position, it is ultimately intended to lead to a full time job after graduation.
To apply for this position, you must first create a profile on USAJobs.gov. Then you must create your resume on the site. Keep in mind that your resume can be up to 6 pages, or 22,000 characters; you can highlight things such as relevant coursework you've taken, projects you've worked on, professional/scientific organizations you're a member of as well as any publications, awards or relevant information to the job. Please pay special attention to the Job Summary and Duties on the announcement, and make sure the information provided on your resume reflects your abilities to perform similar tasks.
For additional guidance on USA Jobs, there are several helpful tutorials on YouTube, and on our NASA Glenn Pathways Page: https://www.grc.nasa.gov/pathways/
When you are applying for this position, please write in the "additional information" section of the resume that you heard about this position through a recruiting event.
If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to contact me.
