Hello All,

The program for the 8th Symposium on the Ecology, Status, and Conservation of the Diamondback Terrapin (https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsites.google.com%2Fa%2Fdtwg.org%2Fdtwg2019%2Fhome&data=02%7C01%7Cdtwg%40listserv.ohio.edu%7Cdf09b901f98747c8033008d716f68780%7Cf3308007477c4a70888934611817c55a%7C0%7C1%7C637003120400508378&sdata=XmDXHiIvmtpeGpVZhYmd%2FjrKe%2FkfUaJU6nWYOQ7AEcg%3D&reserved=0 ) is shaping up nicely! Presentations and discussions will cover topics ranging from population and nesting biology to field techniques and management strategies. The implementation of bycatch reduction devices is a topic receiving a great deal of attention in North Carolina (as well as other states in the terrapin's range), and our keynote speaker for the symposium, Mr. Joseph Facendola (Biologist, North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries) will discuss this topic from a management perspective.

Thanks to all who have submitted abstracts. WE ARE EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND STUDENT TRAVEL AWARD APPLICATIONS TO AUGUST 15TH TO COINCIDE WITH THE DEADLINE FOR EARLY REGISTRATION.

In the coming weeks, I will post more details on the symposium program and opportunities to explore terrapin habitat in southeastern North Carolina. We look forward to hosting you in Wilmington October 11-13!

Amanda
