Hey Dems! Hope everyone's summer has been awesome so far! Summer is

also a great time to spend a little bit of time volunteering for

campaigns since we have more free time than during the school

year...if you're interested in helping with some campaigns this

summer, here are some suggestions on how to get involved, no matter

where you're located!

Nationwide:

No matter where you're spending your summer, there are most likely

volunteering events for the Barack Obama campaign close to you! If you

go to www.barackobama.com and scroll over the "Volunteer" tab towards

the top of the page, a menu will come up with various options on how

to get involved. I would suggest going to the "Find an Event" tab, it

will have you enter your zip code and show you daily events such as

phone banking and canvassing in your area and is very user-friendly!

Statewide:

If you're interested in helping with Sherrod Brown's campaign for

Senator, there is information available at his campaign website:

www.sherrodbrown.com. From there, you can click on the "Action" tab

towards the top left of the page, and then click on "Volunteer" to

sign up for information on how to get involved.

Yvette McGee-Brown's campaign website can be found at

www.justiceyvette.com. If you click on "Contact" you can send her a

message asking for more information on volunteering opportunities.

Athens-Area:

If you are staying in Athens this summer, there are opportunities to

volunteer with local campaigns. Pat Lang's campaign website is

langforcongress.com; if you click on the "Volunteer" tab you can sign

up for more information on how to get involved. His campaign office is

also located at 8 N. Court Street, on the same floor as the Athens

Obama campaign office.

If you are interested in volunteering with Debbie Phillips's

reelection campaign, her campaign email is Debbie at DebbiePhillips.net,

where you can send a message asking for more information on how to get

involved.

If you're staying outside of Athens this summer but still want to get

involved with your own local campaigns, every county in Ohio should

have a Board of Elections website where you can find a list of people

running for office in your area. Just search for your county and

"Board of Elections", such as "Franklin County Board of Elections".

Once you find some campaigns you might like to volunteer for, or if

you already know of people in your area running for office, you can

search their full name and they most likely will have a campaign

website. If they've already held office, they will also have a website

for their office, so make sure it is the website for their campaign,

usually somewhere between the first and fourth option on the search

page.

If you still have any questions on how to get involved, feel free to

ask! Have a fantastic rest of the summer!!
