[Dcoualumni] Potential Ohio Alumni group outing - Opera Lafayette's Le Magnifique - 2/4/11, Manassas, VA

The Nation's Capital Chapter is considering a group outing to this performance with Opera Lafayette at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. We held an outing last year with this group at the Kennedy Center and would like to try on here as well.

Please RSVP immediately to me if you would be interested in attending this performance on Friday, February 4th (and include how many tickets you would need). This will help us in determiing if there is enough interest for a group outing!

Opera Lafayette’s rediscovery of 18th-century operatic gems delights and surprises yet again with the modern premiere of this dazzling romantic comedy by France’s most heralded composer of 18th-century opéra-comique. The story, by Sedaine from Boccaccio via La Fontaine, takes place in Il Magnifico’s Florence and combines tender Gallic charm with lively Italian buffo. Its celebrated “rose” scene and programmatic overture set the tone for a pantomime directed by Catherine Turocy. A virtuoso troupe of seven actor-singers joins intimate and bravura arias to fast-paced ensemble finales, which drive this short three-act comedy towards its inevitably happy close.
