[Currentcse] Fw: invitation to share for Rainbow Holigay Celebration

Hi folks,

Below you will find an email invitation for a holiday celebration on Sunday, Dec. 25th, sponsored by several offices at OU as well as UCM. ALL folks are welcome, although the original idea came up as a way to support LGBT students who might not be traveling home for a variety of reasons.

It has grown now to include anyone who is in town and would like to join together for a time on Christmas Day to celebrate, have good food, and be in community with one another.

International Faculty and Student Services is also sponsoring, so all international students and their families are welcome as well as many folks stay in the area for the holiday.

Feel free to share with others so that everyone who wants a place to be in community with others this weekend can do so and be welcomed. You are also welcome to donate some foods to the celebration even if you cannot attend. (See email below.)

Best, --Theo

Subject: invitation to share for Rainbow Holigay Celebration

Saludos to all,

The LGBT Center in partnership with UCM, ISFS, OUAA, and Housing/Residence Life are organizing a Rainbow Holigay Celebration for folks who are unable to go home during Winter Break. As with many things, this is an experiment as it is the first time that we organize something like this. At Rainbow Thanksgiving last year and this year, folks shared how much they enjoyed being able to gather in a safe affirming space and how cool would it be to have something similar around this time of the year. We are running with this and are organizing a gathering for all those who do not and/or cannot go home for whatever reason (money limitations, travel limitations, concerns for personal safety for being LGBTQ and/or ____, different understanding and dynamics of family, etc). We are also mindful that there are many folks who do not celebrate anything specific but just like to be in community.

The gathering will take place at Carr Hall (by the Living Learning Center) on Sunday 12/25/16 from 3pm to 6pm. Different offices have offered to help cover cost of food ... folks are welcome to bring something to share but not required. All are welcome to participate in the festivities. Please share this invitation with your networks, offices, groups, departments, person behind you in line for coffee.

If you would like to contribute something, I will be in the center from now through Friday...feel free to drop anything off.

Many thanks for the support. Happy holigays and rainbowtastic wishes for new year.

Queerful regards
delfin
