Subject: seeking healthy masculinity intern
I'm writing today to ask for your help in finding a male identifying intern for the 2015-2016 school year that could make themselves available as a healthy masculinity mentor for a small group of young men at Athens High School. Last year, our program successfully started an after school group called Youth Against Misogyny and Sexism that is open to youth of all genders from all Athens County school districts, but it is attended largely by feminist women from Athens High School. Athens High School has offered us a room at the school for a men's group, and Richard Grippa, AHS alumni and son of the former Middle School Principal is currently studying the Men of Strength Club Curriculum from Men Can Stop Rape and will volunteer as the lead instructor until we are able to secure grant funding to pay him. We are looking for an intern, volunteer, or employee of another agency who might be able to use their work hours to help with the program. Nothing is set in stone yet as far as scheduling, but we are shooting for Tuesday from 2:30-4 starting some time in September. The mentor would need to be available for about 4-5 hours each week, including the meeting time in order to help with planning, collecting supplies, staff meetings, transportation, etc. It would be best for the program if we could find one mentor who could stay with the program through fall and spring semesters. We can fill in additional hours if needed. Please forward this to folks who might be interested. They would be welcome to respond to me directly.
And thanks so much for all you do!
