Subject: "I Can't Breathe" Action tomorrow for justice for Eric Garner

"I Can't Breathe" (Justice for Eric Garner at OU) - organized by student activists but community is encouraged to act, too. The weekly Monday Peace Vigil at the Athens Courthouse (11:30am - 12:30pm) remains a space for students and community to gather for ALL justice issues - bring your signs!!!

Facebook link to event - https://www.facebook.com/events/615061431931703/

Here are the steps to follow on Friday, December 5th:

1.) Make a sign that reads, "I can't breathe." -Eric Garner

2.) Walk around with it ALL DAY. Hold it high during class changes. Put it at your feet to be seen by the professor during class. Talk to people about what it means and who Eric Garner, about these black murders.

3.) From 5:00- 5:30 PM, go to the lawn of President McDavis's House and leave your sign.

4.) MOST IMPORTANT: Take a photo of yourself with the sign or of the signs on McDavis's lawn with the hashtags

#ericgarner
#icantbreathe
#ou

and BLAST IT ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIA (Instagram, Yik Yak, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, everything)

"Many of us are tired. We are tired of seeing black bodies brutalized and beaten by the justice system, by fellow citizens. We are tired of seeing skewed news stories. We are tired of the black experience and black pain being spit upon over and over and over again. Even though we are tired, it is important that we show people that this is REAL and this is EVERYWHERE. This is just another way to do that. Show you care. Talk to people."
