CACREP Standard Section II.G.f requires that all students demonstrate knowledge in professional organizations such as the American Counseling Association and ACA divisions and branches including, “membership benefits, activities, services to members, and current issues”.

In order to help faculty and programs meet this requirement, ACA has released an updated PowerPoint presentation, “Discover ACA Student Membership,” to inform students about how to become involved with their national association and its divisions and branches. Discover ACA Student Membership<hhttp://www.counseling.org/docs/membership/student_powerpoint_2014.pdf?sfvrsn=4> and companion talking points<http://www.counseling.org/docs/membership/counselor-educator-student-talking-points-2013-14.pdf?sfvrsn=4>, are available at http://www.counseling.org/membership/aca-and-you/students. You may also want to show your students a special video<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLhJavHrrwU> designed especially for showcasing ACA Student membership.

In addition, faculty may want to know about the ACA Student Membership Packet which includes a poster for your department bulletin board and 20 ACA Student Membership Brochures. If you do not receive yours within a few weeks, please contact Rae Ann Sites at: rsites at counseling.org/800-347-6647<mailto:rsites at counseling.org/800-347-6647>, x217. Let us know if there is anything else ACA can do to assist you with meeting the CACREP requirement to inform your students about how to become more involved in professional associations. We welcome your comments and suggestions on how to improve the presentation. Please provide your comments and suggestions to Denise Brown, Senior Director, Membership Relations – dbrown at counseling.org<mailto:dbrown at counseling.org>.

Best wishes for a productive new academic year!
