<span style="font-family:"Helvetica Neue";color:#32363A">The purpose of this study is to measure masters-level counseling students’ attitudes towards evidence-based practice (EBP) using the fifteen question Evidence-Based Practice Attitude
Scale (EBPAS-15) (Aarons, 2004) to determine whether philosophical orientation relates to mean scores on the EBPAS-15; and whether other masters-level student demographic factors such as school type (state/public or private), program type (primarily online
or in-person), accreditation (CACREP on non-CACREP), and program emphasis (mental health or school counseling) predict mean scores on the EBPAS-15. An additional purpose of this study is to test whether students’ perceptions of compatibility of an empirical
intervention (ACT), with humanistic counseling correlates to mean scores on the EBPAS-15. Gaining insight to the relationship between theoretical orientation in masters-level students’ and their attitudes towards EBPs provides valuable information about next
steps in supporting the counseling field’s use of EBPs.
