As a 20-year professional, credentialed as a Supervising Professional Clinical Counselor for the past ten, and teaching in a CACREP accredited program, I don't plan to go back and take yet another exam (NCMHCE) in order to provide services TRICARE wants. I'm tired of of counselors' treatment as "po' relations." In fairness, I've had a back and forth email volley with Colonel Lowrey who was cordial and understanding, but TRICARE rivals Congress in its inability to take appropriate and timely action.<div><br></div><div>The good news -- for those still reading - is that graduation from a CACREP school, passing the NCE, and independent licensure will get you TRICARE certification. Graduates from regionally accredited programs can go back and take the NCMHCE and be certified through 12/31/2014 (providing a roughly two year window). The purpose of this event is to promote awareness about our need for healthcare providers to accept more TRICARE beneficiaries.<br> <br> At this full-day event, participants will hear presentations by a senior Ohio National Guard commander explaining the contemporary role of the Guard and an overview of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) by the Founder of Resurrecting Lives, Dr. Chrisanne Gordon.
