The College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Director of Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program (I-LEAP). We seek to hire a reputable administrator who will serve as the college's advocate to fulfill and advance the missions of the college, the administrative units of AHS, and university, and be responsible for fostering excellence in educational experience and access to students.<br>
<br>
The mission of the College is to promote health and wellness across the lifespan. The AHS research, teaching, and service programs were designed to improve the quality of life of people of all ages and cultures, promote the development of healthy communities, and help people with disabilities live full and independent lives. AHS has nationally recognized units in their fields, and is home to the interdisciplinary undergraduate program in Health, and the Departments of Kinesiology and Community Health; Recreation, Sport and Tourism; and Speech and Hearing Science. The College enrolls about 2000 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. <br>
<br>
The College is on the flagship campus of the University of Illinois with an enrollment of 42,000 students. The University has one of the largest library collections of any university in the country with over 13 million volumes, and is home to both the Spurlock Museum of World Cultures and the Krannert Art Museum. Illinois is consistently in the top tier of various national and international rankings of public universities. <br>
<br>
The Urbana-Champaign community is home to award-winning parks, a diversity of cultures, Big-10 varsity athletics, community sports for all ages, and beautiful public gardens and campus landscapes. The downtown areas have grown into vibrant public spaces and entertainment districts over the past two decades. Both communities have recently made substantial investments in new public libraries, and the local schools take pride in their traditions of strong academic programs and extra-curricular activities. <br>
<br>
<strong>Qualifications</strong>: A doctoral degree is required. The successful candidate must have academic administrative experience; leadership experience in implementing policy for undergraduate student affairs; academic advising or student affairs experience; a demonstrated record of success in interacting with students and faculty; and experience in working with a diverse population of students, such as athletes, under-represented groups, and first-generation. The candidate must be effective in articulating and promoting the college to student, professional, college, general public, and other campus constituents. <br>
<br>
<strong>Responsibilities</strong>: The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Director of I-LEAP reports to the Dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences and is responsible for development and implementation of policy and budget related to college academic advising and I-LEAP programs, recruitment and admissions activities, undergraduate affairs, and supervision of the activities of the academic advising and I-LEAP staffs. Also included are supervision of the academic records officer, assistance to departmental administrative officers on issues related to undergraduate student programs and activities, the college honors program, and representation of the college on various campus committees. In addition, responsibilities include monitoring the impact of college policies on admissions and scholarships related to strategic planning and enrollment management.<br>
